Tourism Start-up Programme (Mpophomeni Township)
The Tourism Start-up Programme supports start-up and early-stage tourism businesses in Mpophomeni Township that are ready to establish themselves in the tourism industry through structured enterprise development, practical support, and opportunities for sustainable business growth and local job creation.

- Design thinking and Business Model Canvas development
- Financial literacy and compliance guidance
- Digital and AI enablement, including tablet support
- Tourism-specific skills facilitation where applicable
- Marketing development support
- Pitch preparation and exposure opportunities
- Enterprise support aimed at local growth and sustainable job creation
This call relates specifically to the approved Mpophomeni Township allocation covering:
- Mpophomeni Township
- uMngeni Local Municipality, KwaZulu-Natal
- SEDFA / Sigma International Mpophomeni Incubator
- Surrounding areas within a 50km radius
- South African citizens
- At least 51% South African Black-owned businesses
- Businesses operating or intending to operate in the tourism and hospitality value chain
- Early-stage entrepreneurs, start-ups, or informal businesses
- Businesses trading for at least 1 year or at idea stage with clear tourism potential
- Applicants located within or near the specified programme area
Priority will be given to youth and women entrepreneurs.
